Senator Dino Melaye, has finally surrendered to the police, after eight days he has been hiding in his house as a result of the police siege to his compound in Abuja.

The police is investigating an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide committed on 19 July, 2018.

The Kogi west Senator was said to have been involved alongside “his armed thugs” in shooting one Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, who was attached to 37 Mobile Force (PMF) on stop and search duty along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State.

Melaye took decision to offer himself a day after the Federal High Court in Abuja, refused an ex-parte application brought before it to end the siege on his house.

He was thereafter taken to the head office of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Abuja.

The senator however slumped in the presence of some of his colleagues of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and police operatives.
