The military in Gabon, a country in the west coast of Central Africa has announced its takeover of power from the ailing President Ali Bongo-led government in the country.

They took control of state radio early Monday and called on the Gabonese to “rise up” in the announcement. The solders said they will restore democracy through the “national restoration council” which will be formed. They declared  the ailing President Ali Bongo is out of the country.

President Bongo was said to have suffered a stroke since October and currently in Rabat, Morocco but he debunked this in his New Year message.
